How much money do I need to bring a relative to Spain?
You need regular income of at least 150 % of the IPREM, which is €900 a month with the IPREM at €600, plus a further 50 % (€300) for each additional member of the family unit. The income of the person bringing the family counts, as does that of their partner and of direct relatives who are resident and live with them.

- + 50 % per member
- is added for each additional member of the family unit. Art. 67.1 of the Regulation
- €600 a month
- is the monthly IPREM: €7,200 a year. Additional provision 90 of Law 31/2022, which still applies in 2026 through the automatic rollover of the 2023 budget (Royal Decree-law 3/2026)
- 1 year of residence
- plus an authorisation to reside for at least one more year, before you can file. Art. 68.1 of the Regulation

Checked on 23 October 2026 against the consolidated text of the Regulation (updated on 22 September 2026) and of Law 31/2022 published in the BOE (Spain’s official gazette). The IPREM can change: confirm the current figure. General information: it does not replace advice on your case.
How the financial means are calculated, step by step
The calculator applies article 67.1 of the Regulation implementing Organic Law 4/2000 (Royal Decree 1155/2024). Example: one person is brought and nobody else lives with you, with the IPREM at €600 a month.
Starting threshold
150 % of the monthly IPREM, for the sponsor and one relative
150 % × €600 = €900
Additional members
+ 50 % of the IPREM for each further member: each person brought from the second on and each person who already lives with you and depends on your income
Bringing three people: 150 % + 2 × 50 % = 250 % → €1,500
Income that counts
Yours, your spouse’s or partner’s and that of first-degree relatives in the direct line who are resident and live with you
Extra pay included; self-employed, net profit
Comparison
Monthly income that counts against the threshold
€1,000 against €900: enough, with €100 to spare
| People brought | Percentage of the IPREM | Minimum per month | Minimum per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 150 % | €900 | €10,800 |
| 2 | 200 % | €1,200 | €14,400 |
| 3 | 250 % | €1,500 | €18,000 |
| 4 | 300 % | €1,800 | €21,600 |
| 5 | 350 % | €2,100 | €25,200 |
| 6 | 400 % | €2,400 | €28,800 |
Monthly or annual: what the calculator compares
Article 67.1 states the amount as a percentage of the IPREM, without saying whether it is monthly or annual. The calculator compares one month of income with the percentage of the monthly IPREM, which is the same as comparing twelve months with the annual IPREM of twelve payments (€7,200). The IPREM sits in an editable field so you can change it if it is updated. The immigration office may apply a different criterion, so it is worth confirming.
What else is required besides income
- Adequate housing, shown by a report from social services, the autonomous community or the local authority (article 67.2).
- Health insurance for the sponsor and the family (article 67.3).
- Other minor children in your care who are already in Spain must be enrolled in school if they are of compulsory school age (article 67.4).
- Not being a threat to public order and having paid the fee (articles 67.6 and 67.7).
- Having lived in Spain for one year and having applied for authorisation to reside for at least one more year, except for the exceptions in article 68.1.
If you bring a minor, the minimum may be lower
When a child or a person you legally represent is brought and circumstances justify it in the best interests of the child, article 67.1 allows the amount to be reduced: for two members, one of them a minor, 110 % of the guaranteed income of the Minimum Vital Income (Ingreso Mínimo Vital) on an annual basis, plus 10 % for each additional minor. The calculator does not apply that reduction.
What people ask when they see the result
How much do I need to earn to bring a relative to Spain?
Income of at least 150 % of the IPREM for the sponsor and one relative brought, and 50 % of the IPREM for each additional member (article 67.1 of the Regulation). With the IPREM at €600 a month that is €900 a month to bring one person, €1,200 for two and €1,500 for three.
Does my partner’s salary count?
Yes, if your partner is resident in Spain and part of the same household. Article 67.1 allows the income of the sponsor, of their spouse or partner and of other first-degree relatives in the direct line to be counted, provided they are resident and live with them.
What income is not counted?
Study grants and housing aid, compensatory and maintenance payments (unless they are for the person being brought) and income from the social assistance system are not counted (article 67.1.e). Extra pay is included in proportion, and for the self-employed net profit counts.
Which IPREM should I use?
The current monthly IPREM. Law 31/2022 set it at €600 a month for 2023 (additional provision 90) and that figure keeps applying until another is approved, through the rollover of the budget. If the Government changes it, change the amount in the calculator field.
Does the figure change if I bring a minor child?
It can fall. If circumstances justify it in the best interests of the child, article 67.1 allows 110 % of the guaranteed income of the Minimum Vital Income, annual, to be required for a unit of two members, one of them a minor, plus 10 % for each additional minor. The calculator does not apply that reduction.
When can I file the reunification application?
Once you have lived in Spain for at least one year and have applied for authorisation to reside for at least one more year (article 68.1). Long-term residents can bring their parents without that wait. The application is filed in person at the immigration office.
My relative is Spanish: does this minimum apply?
No. Relatives of persons of Spanish nationality have a separate authorisation (articles 93 to 99 of the Regulation), which does not require the minimum income of article 67, although in some cases it must be shown that the relative is dependent on the Spanish national (articles 94 and 96).

If you fall short of the minimum, the whole case needs a look
Whether you reach it depends on which income you can prove and how. At the first visit you are told the steps and the papers; the preliminary study of the documents may carry a fee, which is quoted before it begins. We work in Spanish, Catalan, English and Arabic (Arabic by appointment).
First visit: conditions*
When confirming the appointment, the firm tells you whether the visit is at no charge or whether, because of the type of matter, a fee applies; in that case, it tells you the scope and amount beforehand, and you decide whether to accept.
*The first visit at no charge covers an initial consultation to discuss the case. It does not include prior document review. If that review is needed, or the matter concerns employment or criminal law, a fee may apply. The firm will disclose the scope and amount beforehand; the client decides whether to accept.
